Florianópolis, Brazil

The BRT transport system (Bus Rapid Transit) provide an important legacy reducing the distances between the cities of Florianópolis, Palhoça, Biguaçu and São José, and its central and residential areas in the metropolitan region. The stations, shaped as subway stations, are accessible with automatic doors, have visual communication signage indicating the stop location of each line and warning panels to users, with the next bus arrival time.

Because it is an express transportation system, its roads are segregated from normal traffic, this results in stations deployed in the medians of the roads, a fast boarding and disembarking and leveled. The structure of the station is designed to be easy to assemble, with prefabricated light structural shapes bringing speed for assembly and reducing material losses. The station façade material perforated metal sheets, allowing for natural light, natural shading and ventilation. The use of photovoltaic panels minimizes the energy cost over time. Functionally, the station is flexible for any type of vehicle, with the initial forecast usage for articulated bus with 180 passengers capacity and can receive buses up to 270 passengers, in other words, is possible to increase the system's capacity as a whole without new investments and works when required due to demand.
